About Alex
Growing up in Southern California, I felt the desire to create my own work from a young age. Having parents who were avid readers and storytellers themselves helped me understand the emotional impact of art and its various forms. While I've always loved books, video games, and painting, it was movies that captivated me the most as a child. As I grew older, I began to understand what it would take to see my name up on the big screen.
I carved out a niche for myself in documentary filmmaking while getting my Bachelor's in Film and Media Studies at the University of California Santa Barbara. Working with other talented filmmakers gave me the opportunity to hone and develop my craft as a documentarian. With these skills, I wanted to bring awareness to the myriad of marginalized communities in the United States who have so much to offer and just want their voice to be heard. Through my films, I try my best to give them that voice.
As an artist, I hope to engage audiences in finding the humanity and compassion of individuals and groups who have experienced hardship and persevered. I strive to underscore the representation these communities deserve, and what makes them uniquely special in our society.
